Mexico’s election apparent tie is an example in North America of a large (36 million voters) and long-established democracy, in which presidential elections are so close that two candidates each claim victory. In this respect, at least, the situation illustrates a potential scenario in America. Most likely, if a decision were to be made by the election commission in Mexico, the loser would accept the outcome and concede. But this isn’t certain. It will be interesting to watch the course that events take in Mexico.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In any case, tied elections in large democracies are not that unusual, and they create constitutional crises.
